Dunloup Creek In-Lieu Fee Stream Enhancement Project | Stream Restoration

Location: Fayette County, WV

Date: Survey/Design 2014 - 2019 & Construction 2020 (anticipated)

The Dunloup Creek In-Lieu Fee Stream Enhancement Project is located in Mount Hope and Kilsyth, WV. After multiple catastrophic floods, many parcels adjacent to Dunloup Creek were bought out by the Natural Resources Conservation Service and placed under a restrictive easement. Green Rivers, under the direction of the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection, In-Lieu Fee Program, surveyed and designed over 6,000 ft of stream using Natural Stream Design principles. The design includes the removal of two bridges constraining Dunloup Creek’s natural profile and installing over 30 structures, including boulder cross-vanes, log cross-vanes, alternating rock vanes, a specially designed rock weir, and over 200 ft of toewood. Construction is anticipated for Summer/Fall 2020.
